Reiki is a Japanese energy healing practice with increasing evidence supporting its health benefits. These may include relief from anxiety and depression, pain management, and fatigue reduction, among others. Reiki is a noninvasive complementary therapy that doesn’t replace medical advice or treatment.

Reiki works through the transfer of universal energy, the energy of the purest form of love. Sessions are about 60-90 minutes and can be done in-person from the practitioner’s palms to the client. Sessions can also be done at a distance from the practitioner connecting to the client's higher self and meditating. Sending energy across time and space.

Energy healing is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
In 1922 Mikao Usui developed Usui Reiki, the most potent form because of its direct lineage to its origin. Since the 1960's several off branches of Reiki have emerged such as Karuna and Holy Fire Reiki. However, it is believed that people have practiced Reiki for about 2,500 years among healing communities in Tibet and India. Some metaphysical scholars theorize that Jesus Christ used the loving power of Reiki to heal others.
The word Reiki is composed of two Japanese words - Rei and Ki. Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki (Chi) which is "life force energy". So, Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy. Everything has energy flowing through it, humans, animals, and even nature itself.
